TASTING NOTES
Vibrant aromas of raspberry waft from the glass accompanied by softer notes of dried herbs and plum. The palate is richly layered with flavors of red currant, blackberry and dried herb spice. The lingering finish is laced with oak-toasted vanilla and firm tannins.
VINEYARD NOTES
The fruit for this wine comes from the famed Spring Rock Vineyard owned by the James family. Good rains in February lead to a warm summer, which then turned cool in August, resulting in a later harvest than the last few years. What followed was a long warm fall and near perfect growing conditions and extended hang time. In the end it was one of the longest harvests on record and also above average crop size. The fruit was hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard.
WINEMAKER NOTES
2017 was another near perfect growing season with idyllic weather throughout the year. Harvest was a bit earlier than usual, and yields were balanced. Most importantly, the quality of fruit was once again impressive, marked by complex aromatics and flavors for this highly coveted wine.
Warm squash and brussels sprouts are glazed in a sweet and savory mix of balsamic vinegar and dijon mustard. Tart cranberries add a refreshing pop and festive feel.
